# Ashby Integration: Connect Merge for Code Assessments

> Set up the Merge and Ashby integration to send assessment invites from Ashby and receive results back on the candidate timeline automatically.

Connecting Merge to Ashby brings assessment invites and results directly into the candidate timeline your recruiting team already works from. Once the integration is active, you can send invites with a single click and receive scorecard results without leaving Ashby.

## What the integration does

* **Send invites from Ashby** — trigger a Merge assessment invite directly from an Ashby candidate profile without opening a separate tool.
* **Receive results on the timeline** — assessment results and scorecard links appear as timeline entries on the Ashby candidate profile as soon as the session ends.
* **Automate by stage** — configure the integration to automatically send a Merge invite when a candidate reaches a specific Ashby interview stage, so nothing falls through the cracks.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

* An Ashby account with **Admin** access
* A Merge company account with admin permissions

## Setup

    Go to **Settings > Integrations** in your Merge dashboard and select **Ashby** from the list of supported systems.

    You will be prompted to sign in to Ashby and grant Merge access to your organization's candidate data. Complete the authorization flow and you'll be redirected back to Merge.

  <Step title="Map Interview Stages">
    Configure which Ashby interview stages should trigger a Merge invite automatically, if you want stage-based automation. You can also leave this off and send invites manually from the candidate profile.

  <Step title="Test the Integration">
    Use the test button to send a sample invite and confirm that results flow back to the Ashby candidate timeline correctly.

## Sending invites from Ashby

Once the integration is active, an **Invite to Merge** button appears on Ashby candidate profiles. Click it to send the assessment invite without leaving Ashby. As the candidate progresses through the assessment, status updates and the final scorecard link appear as entries on the candidate timeline.

  Use Ashby's interview plan to automate Merge invites at the right stage — for example, after the recruiter screen and before the technical interview. This keeps your process consistent across every candidate and reduces manual coordination for your team.
