# Connect Merge to Greenhouse for Engineering Hiring

> Integrate Merge with Greenhouse to trigger code review assessments from candidate profiles and sync results back as scorecards automatically.

Connecting Merge to Greenhouse keeps your engineering assessments inside the hiring workflow your team already relies on. Once set up, you can trigger assessments directly from Greenhouse candidate profiles and receive structured scorecard results without leaving the platform.

## What the integration does

* **Trigger invites from Greenhouse** — send a Merge assessment invite from a Greenhouse candidate profile without switching to a separate tool.
* **Sync status and results automatically** — assessment status and results sync back to Greenhouse as scorecard entries as soon as the candidate completes the session.
* **Keep context attached to the record** — candidate context stays connected to the Greenhouse record throughout the process, so your team has everything they need in one place.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

* A Greenhouse account with **Site Admin** or **Developer** permissions
* Access to the **Dev Center** in Greenhouse to generate an API key
* A Merge company account with admin permissions

## Setup

    Go to **Settings > Integrations** in your Merge dashboard and select **Greenhouse** from the list of supported systems.

  <Step title="Generate a Greenhouse API Key">
    In Greenhouse, go to **Configure > Dev Center > API Credential Management** and create a new API key with **Harvest API** access. Copy the key — you'll paste it into Merge in the next step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the API Key in Merge">
    Paste the Greenhouse API key into the connection form in Merge and click **Connect**. Merge will validate the key and establish the connection.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the Integration">
    Map the Greenhouse job stages that should receive Merge invites, and select which scorecard fields to populate with results when assessments are completed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test the Connection">
    Send a test invite from a Greenhouse candidate profile to confirm the integration is active and that results are flowing back to the candidate record as expected.

## Sending invites from Greenhouse

After setup, a Merge assessment action is available on the candidate activity feed in Greenhouse. Click it to send the invite directly from the candidate profile. The candidate receives the invite by email, and their status updates in both Greenhouse and Merge as they progress.

## Viewing results in Greenhouse

Results appear as structured scorecards on the Greenhouse candidate profile once the assessment is complete. The Merge scorecard link is attached to the entry, giving your hiring team direct access to the full result without leaving Greenhouse.

  You need Site Admin or Dev Center access in Greenhouse to generate the API key required for this integration. If you don't have this access, contact your Greenhouse administrator before starting setup.
